If you are on-campus in Vermont:

Log into your library patron account on the Library Catalog page; enter your barcode (on your student ID card) and last name (in all lower-case letters) to log in to your account .

In the Library Catalog, select the title of the item you want to request.

Click the “Place Hold” link in the right-hand menu.

Make sure the box next to the item is selected and click the“Place Hold” button.

The request will appear in your account under the Hold tab on your main page.

When the hold is available for you to pick up you will receive an email from the library letting you know it is available.

You can check out your material at the library circulation desk during library business hours.

If you are a DC Program student:

Follow the directions for placing an item on hold, above.

The book will be sent to the DC office via courier. Please return it in the same manner.

If you are off-campus and want to request a book or film to be sent to you:

  • To request an item, please email us at
    • If you are located within the United States or Canada, we can mail items from our main collection.  Items will be checked out to your account and you will be responsible for mailing them back to the library.  Please note that we can not send non-circulating items such as reference books or full issues of journals. In your email, include your mailing address and the title(s) of the book(s) you want.
    • If you are located elsewhere in the world and you need a part of a book, we can scan and email up to 2 chapters of a book. In your email, let us know that you are overseas and which chapters you'd like OR that you would like to see the Table of Contents to choose chapters. Due to copyright limitations, entire books cannot be copied but this service is useful for getting a key chapter or chapters necessary for your work.

Items can be renewed online through the catalog on the Patron Login Page. Enter your library barcode and last name (in all lower-case letters) to access your account.
